The KC-1 is a very diverse set.  It comes in 13 different sizes, Height rages from 2 5/8 to 13 1/4”.  There were several manufacturers contributing to the 7 different bases that are known.  Colors known are: Cobalt, Cornflower, Clear, Teal, Olive, Amber & Green. Only the Cobalt issues had the signature stoppers we see here and they came in 3 sizes: 1”, 1 1/8” and 1 1/4”

Embossed “POISON Lewis Bear Drug Co. Pensacola, Fla.”

The Lewis Bear Co. was founded in 1876 and is still in business today in Pensacola. It’s business is beverage distribution. I’m still working on finding information about the drug co. end of the business. You can read their history here.

Both sizes in dark amber.

 We thought these to be German, but recently discovered they are Polish (though they may have been made in the Poland territory during German occupation).  Thought to be less than 10 known, recently the market was flooded by someone on eBay with no less than 20 of them (coming from Poland).  Evidently, they are more prevalent there than here. These come in Dark Amber, Olive, Aqua and Green.

This group has a wide size variation. There are 16 different sizes from 2 1/2 to 7 7/8 tall. They are also measured by thier width and depth along with hight as their proportions differ.  Clear issues have 6 known sizes ranging from 2 5/8 to 7 7/8 tall.  Clear issues are from Canada and are rarer.  PD & Co.

There are several variations of the front embossing of this bottle.  Notice the different Skull and Crossbones shapes and sizes along with word spacing. 2nd word could be Tinct, (US) or Liq. (Canadian). Comes in 2 1/8” & 3 1/4” as well.

This bottle can be confused with a rare, amber KT-10. Key differences would be this bottle is narrower and the edges are scalloped to create it’s texture where the KT-10 has round bumps. POISON is centered on this bottle where the KT-10 is at the bottom.
